A USB Flash drive, also referred to as a thumb drive, is a very portable external storage device that can be plugged into any USB port on a computer.
When a flash drive is plugged into a Macintosh computer, an icon appears on the desktop. Double-click on this icon to access your files. Drag the icon to the Trash to safely eject the flash drive.
When a flash drive is plugged into a Windows computer, a message displays indicating that new hardware has been found. Select and open My Computer to view the Removable Disc drive icon. Double-click on this icon to access your files. To safely eject your flash drive, click on the Remove Hardware icon in the lower right corner of the taskbar and select Safely Remove Mass Storage Device. Remove the flash drive once the message displays telling you that it is safe to remove it.
